Our story
Why? That’s a question we’ve been getting a lot lately.
Why have we gotten rid of all of our things and pets? Why are we moving 6,029 miles away? Why did Eric leave a stable job?
Why? Because He has called us to do it. He has put a love in our hearts for China and it’s people. To be His hands and feet in a real way to whomever He puts in our path. To show love. To be salt. To be light. To shine for Him. To grow in Him.
Our journey to China started thirty seven years ago when Christie’s biological mother showed up in her adoptive father’s labor and delivery room. Yep, He set up an appointment for Christie’s first breath to be taken in the hands of the man who would choose to take her home three days later as his own. Christie was welcomed into this family of Chinese believers. Yes…..that’s right…..Christie was adopted by Chinese Christians and raised in the faith and that culture.
Our lives are truly an example of the metaphor of the Vine and the branches in John. As a little one Christie was grafted onto this branch of His master plan. Twenty two years later He grafted another to this branch when Eric and Christie were married. That branch has continued to grow with the little shoot of Rebecca sprouting and the little shoot of Jadelin being grafted in. A blend of growth as we continue to remain in the Vine. He is now leading us to use our gifts and passions to show His love.
Even before I was born, you had written in your book everything I would do.
